Paint is in our blood
Paint has been running through the veins (and splashing down the outfits) of three generations of our family – that’s 30+ family members! We live and breathe paint thanks to Tony – our dad – whose passion for creating amazing colours has fed into all our lives. It is because of him that the Sophie James brand exists, and we are excited to continue the legacy he has created so that even more generations of our family can enjoy paint in the same way that we have.

30+ years in the making
The Sophie James family has been making paint successfully for over three decades in the commercial world. Our story runs three generations deep, and with family key to our delivery, we wanted to share this formula with others to create their story full of important memories.

Colour is an extremely important part of our lives. It affects our moods – some colours motivate us to work while others help us relax with our family at the end of the day.
At Sophie James we work hard to create colours that can be used individually or in combination with other colours to change the mood of a living space – feature wall colours, furniture shades to complement and create a truly individual living space. Family is key
We know the importance of family and want to help give what support we can. We give a percentage of our profits to charities that support children having family problems.
Emmaus Colchester
Emmaus Colchester provides a home and meaningful work for up to 31 formerly homeless people. Their purpose-built community offers a comfortable home, while the three shops, cafe and warehouse provide work and generate the funding to keep their community going.
Family action
Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country. They have been building stronger families since 1869, and today work with over 60,000 families through their 200 community-based services.
